Background
Lawton Tubes is a 4th generation family business that celebrated its centenary in 2018. Starting out as a small engineering company in the heart of Coventry, we have since positioned ourselves as a household brand.
AH Lawton co-founded Lawton Tubes and the business commenced trading as a partnership. At first, we specialised in making copper and brass tubes for the motor trade, the railway and the shipbuilding industries. Later down the line in 1920, Lawton Tubes became a limited company.
We came under government control during the 2nd World War and for the next eight years the armed forces required nearly all of our tube production.
Following the cessation of government control, our company set about re-establishing our customer base. In the years that followed the company doubled the size of the factory and invested heavily in new copper tube drawing machinery, enabling for us to start tube production for the construction industry in addition to our already established markets.
Range
Through a vast network of national and independent merchants we sell plumbing and air-conditioning tube, as well as being the largest UK medical gas copper tube distributor.
Within the last decade, our expansion in overseas interest now sees our brand in over 35 countries within 4 markets: plumbing, air-conditioning, medical and industrial. This has led to us gaining the highest accolade: The Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade 2019.
